NWCE Food Service Equipment is looking to end the year on a high after announcing several internal promotions and filling some key strategic positions in its business.
During the last two years, the company has tripled in size and now employs more than 60 staff.
With the company growing its kitchen service offering but also heavily active in catering equipment project work, it has evolved its structure to put it in the best possible shape to achieve future growth.
Dawn Edmundson, who has 24 years’ experience with Hoover Candy, has taken over as service manager and will oversee the service department. NWCE’s engineers currently handle more than 450 reactive jobs per week.
“Dawn will be a great addition to the NWCE family with her vast experience within the industry and we wish her all the very best in her career here at NWCE,” said managing director Ben Odling.
Tony Lo has joined the business as project manager. He has been in the catering equipment industry since 2007, where he has undertaken sales, engineer and project management roles.
For the last 10 years, he has worked on large projects in Macau and Hong Kong for international hospitality brands such as Four Seasons and Hilton.
“Tony will be a great addition to the NWCE family with his vast experience within the industry and we welcome Tony with open arms,” said Mr Odling.
Design and estimator co-ordinator Jake Gorton, whose role has involved assisting in commercial kitchen design, CAD drawings and project quotations, will now manage the kitchen design team and projects department as design manager, reporting directly to the projects director.
“Jake has worked his way up the company over the last three years and proved he is the right person to lead the projects design teams. With his exceptional skill with CAD and 3D rendering, we are very happy to promote him to design manager,” commented Mr Odling.
Elsewhere in the business, Catherine Wilkinson has also been promoted after gaining experience in the company’s service department for four years before progressing to a projects estimator role. She will now serve as installations and warehouse manager.
She will be fully responsible for the warehouse and installations teams for one-off sales and spot replacement installations, through to arranging engineering assets for projects installations.
“Catherine has 15 years of experience with engineering management and knows the business inside out,” said Mr Odling. “Catherine is very organised and will manage the warehouse and installations team effectively and I am very happy to see her progress through our business.”
Additionally, Andy Clinton recently joined the distributor as business development manager. He has been a general manager at several pubs and restaurants, and spent the last 10 years at Greene King managing more than 120 sites.
His role will involve creating business development plans and identifying new market opportunities.
“Andy brings over 35 years of invaluable experience to NWCE with his knowledge on food and drink operations,” said Mr Odling. “Although I have known Andy for close to 10 years firstly as a client, I am very excited to welcome him on board to help develop our existing and new customer base respectively.”
Meanwhile, Philip Elliot has been named as the company’s new procurement manager and will be tasked with further developing NWCE’s buying strategy at a time when there is a global shortage of spares parts and equipment.
He will perform all procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, and preparation of contracts and tender management.
“Phil spent several years working for NWCE in the repairs and estimating department and has now re-joined our team as procurement manager,” said Mr Odling.
“I am very happy to welcome Phil back on board at a time when better buying and strong working relationships with suppliers are very much needed. I am sure Phil’s experience and they way he thinks outside of the box will help our business in the years to come.”
