Why should you choose stainless steel commercial catering equipment?

Choosing the right commercial catering equipment is very important. The equipment is more than likely going to be used seven days a week, for 12 + hours. So you need to choose items that will be able to handle everything that could happen in your kitchen service. You also need to make sure that you get the right equipment for your kitchen. For example, if you don’t have pizza on your menu, you won’t need a pizza oven. Or if you get your meat pre sliced from your suppliers, you won’t need a meat slicer. So it’s worth taking the time to make sure your kitchen and your catering equipment is fit for purpose. Here at North West Catering Engineers, we suggest kitting out your commercial kitchen with stainless steel equipment.

Stainless steel equipment is very easy to clean down! It’s non-porous which means water or moisture won’t soak into and effect any of the surfaces. It also prevents germs from breeding on worktops and surfaces. When you’re looking into buying stainless steel commercial catering equipment, you need to be aware that there are two different grades. Grade 430 is cheaper as it only contains chromium, where as grade 304 contains chromium and nickel making it more resistant to corrosion and more expensive.

Another thing to consider is the thickness of the equipment. Thicker gauge is going to be more expensive than its thinner counterpart, and of course the thicker gauge will last longer and be more durable.

Finally, it’s worth thinking about what finish your equipment is going to be. If it’s going to be front of house equipment like display fridges, serveries or hot cupboards then it’s worth opting for a high sheen finish rather than the usual satin finish which can be quite dull.
